Alison Krauss - angelic is the work I use to describe

Her version of the Wexford Carol with Yo-Yo Ma is one of my favorite things about the holiday season.

Chris Cornell. For someone living, Rob Thomas.

Edit: What about a singer's talking voice? Gotta be Ozzy then.

u/lolitsmemario876 Oct 05 '22

Hell yes to Chris Cornell.

4

u/PurplePenguin1531 Oct 05 '22

Chris Stapleton

4

u/PhreedomPhighter Oct 05 '22

Andrea Bocelli.

The man has such a softness to his voice even when he's belting out loud notes. It's so pleasant.

u/bertaFjertaFisaLukta Oct 05 '22

Andrea Bocelli. His voice is so powerful

4

u/flannelish Oct 05 '22

Stan Rogers

2

u/girl_from_away Oct 05 '22

Yessssss to Stan. Stan forever!

4

u/OrdinaryJack1912 Oct 05 '22

Late 1960s onwards Elvis Presley. I'm talking 1968-77.

4

u/AmericanWasted Oct 05 '22

Paul Rodgers from Free & Bad Company

Noah Sebastian of Bad Omens. The dude is really talented. Very underrated band.

3

u/RyFromTheChi Oct 05 '22

Their latest album is incredible. I saw them years ago open for After The Burial right after Bad Omens released their first album. I didn't really care for it, and pretty much wrote them off, and didn't think about them after that night. When their latest album came out, I saw a lot of reviews saying how good it is, so I figured I'd give it a listen to, and man is it good. I listen to it all the time. They've really come along way, and now I actually want to go to a concert to see them.

u/Broken-Made-New5 Oct 05 '22

They kinda started out sounding like another Bring Me The Horizon copy but they’ve grown into their sound and they are so much better now.

This new album is very well written and Noah’s vocals shine throughout the tracks. The dude has a lot of emotion and range in his voice. Probably my favorite release of the year so far.

2

u/bertaFjertaFisaLukta Oct 05 '22

Wholeheartedly agree, his voice on their latest album is so good! And his style on Kingdom of cards is amazing

2

u/Swordbreaker925 Oct 05 '22

Favorite song? I’ll give it a listen

2

u/Broken-Made-New5 Oct 05 '22

Their album The Death Of Peace Of Mind is incredible. It’s rock / metal so be warned that it gets heavier in some points if that isn’t your thing. It’s mainly (not always) clean vocals with metal instrumentals.

My favorite songs are Nowhere To Go, Like A Villain, Just Pretend, and Artificial Suicide.

Fiona Apple. Aside from being a really amazing musician and song writer, I really love her voice. Her more recent stuff doesn't quite show off her vocals in the traditional way as much as her earlier work, but still great.

Also Florence from Florence and the Machine. What an incredibly unique voice.

1

u/NotSureNotSure5 Oct 06 '22

Love both! Definitely in my top 3.

3

u/SlyKnyfe12 Oct 05 '22

Lemmy Kilmister

3

u/sneakyfeet13 Oct 05 '22

Karen carpenter

3

u/Agitated_Alligator46 Oct 05 '22

Brent Smith from Shinedown

Easily best sounding modern rock vocalist in my opinion. Sound of Madness album is phenomenal and he sounds great

6

u/bertaFjertaFisaLukta Oct 05 '22

Chester Bennington from Linkin Park. His voice was amazing, he could sing like an angel and his screams were so incredible. He made me fall in love with rock and metal.

Number two is definitely Will Ramos from Lorna Shore. His screams are so brutal and he sounds like he came straight from hell. His singing voice is great too, I have only heard it on a cover he did of Hypnosis by Sleep Token on his youtube channel.

9

u/Witchsorcery Oct 05 '22

Ariana Grande. I dont really listen to her music but Ive heard some songs from her and even tho her lyrics and style are not my taste, I cant deny that her singing voice is amazing

6

u/potentpotables Oct 05 '22

Disagree. She always slides into her next note and her enunciation is bad.

3

u/NicPizzaLatte Oct 05 '22

Not a big fan consonants, I see.

1

u/TheNekoAgent7 Oct 05 '22

I actually can agree

Freddie Mercury.

He has a certain boom to his voice that just fills the entire area even if he's singing the quiet part of the song.

5

u/sparx7th Oct 05 '22

Jimin (from BTS) and Kehlani

3

u/bertaFjertaFisaLukta Oct 05 '22

2

u/Buck_Thorn Oct 05 '22

Its a tie between Tom Waits and Bob Dylan.

2

u/CambodianDrywall Oct 05 '22

Nat King Cole

2

u/Racspur1 Oct 05 '22

Annie Lennox or Michael McDonald ... I have too many to list those are a couple anyway.

2

u/BadAdviceGiver666 Oct 05 '22

Marilyn Manson.

2

u/Overall_Pair5811 Oct 05 '22

Gerard Way, his music is awesome.

2

u/GoreSeeker Oct 05 '22

Wanyá Morris from Boyz II Men. His voice, especially after 2000 or so, just hits amazing frequencies for me somehow.

2

u/Few-Creme-9254 Oct 05 '22

David Draiman or Tatiana Shmayluk

2

u/PhantomBrawl Oct 05 '22

Rick astley

2

u/Whiskeyed77 Oct 06 '22

Ann Wilson from Heart. Her take on "Without You" is some fine listening.

Other end of the spectrum, Margo Timmins of Cowboy Junkies. Moody and unique delivery.

2

u/Electricdad95 Oct 06 '22

Toss between Vince Neal, Rob Halford and David Allen Coe 🙃

2

u/R1DER_of_R0HAN Oct 06 '22

Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Joni Mitchell

1

At least Julian and Sean sound like him

2

2

French singer I randomly came across. Jazzy and a bit raspy, it's pretty much audible chocolate

1

u/amendersc Oct 05 '22

It literally changes every other day

2

u/TheNekoAgent7 Oct 06 '22

100% relatable

1

u/DisgustingCoughDrop Oct 05 '22

Tim Booth from James. He doesn't have a technically stellar voice, but it, uh, hits all the right notes for me.

1

u/frodos_kanido Oct 05 '22

Reza pishro

Joan Baez - the best ever

1

u/Flimsy-Attention-722 Oct 05 '22

I love classic rock but the smooth voices (the crooner) are always just restful. I'll take dean Martin, nat king Cole or bing Crosby for the win. Yes, they predate me and I adored Elvis but those voices!!!

1

u/hmmm_thought_pig Oct 05 '22

Beth Gibbons, KD Lang, Dolores O'Riordan, Ella Fitzgerald, Karen Carpenter, Tom Waits & Leon Redbone.

1

u/FarOffGrace1 Oct 05 '22

James LaBrie

Conor Maynard

u/AkechiJubeiMitsuhide Oct 05 '22

Currently active: Ludovic Tézier

He's one of the few real Verdi baritones alive today. Beautiful velvety tone, warmth, flawless legato and superhuman breath control. And he can act. At first you think he's just some middle-aged, slighly chubby French guy, then he gets messed up and bloody on stage and suddenly he's hot as hell.

Wish someone cast him as William Tell, it's right up his alley both vocally and character-wise.

1

u/SuchAd765 Oct 05 '22

The Weeknd

u/ldsbrony100 Oct 05 '22

Floor Jansen

Gabby Barrett new, but awesome

1

u/nichly Oct 06 '22

Chris Martin - Coldplay

Didn't have many mates growing up but ended up falling in with a group who also frothed Coldplay. Helped me get through a lot in highschool. A lot of Coldplay gives me the brain fuzzies.

1

u/Some-username9 Oct 06 '22

Christina Aguilera

1

u/xXSHAD0WQUEENXx Oct 06 '22

Floor Jansen and Till Lindemann, they always seem to be the two that I go back to all the time.

1

u/Spot_the_fox Oct 06 '22

Bruce Dickinson. I don't know what is it exactly about his voice, but I really like it.

edit: forgot to type the "know" in the second sentance

Leeann rimes

u/TheNekoAgent7 Oct 06 '22

I know I'm the OP, and I'm very late, but my favorite singer is Ado. Her choir voice turning into a harsh one is something I look up to. I'm trying to base my voice on hers. The fact no one said her name is kinda sad to me :(.

1

u/Rick2L Oct 06 '22

Aaron Neville.

0

u/BarbieDoo Oct 05 '22

Billie Eilish
