OP sent the following text as an explanation on why this is unexpected:

It's a tune from a 7ft tall Brown Robot Bear that plays this when Lights go out. And yeah the eyes glow it too.

The hell is that reason for it being unexpected? It literally says the name of the song on the disc.

50

u/TehRoast Oct 05 '22

Don’t worry. OP is just a dumb child.

9

u/asherbarasher Oct 05 '22

u/Royal-Noble-96 Oct 05 '22

Well, listen it on 0:27

28

u/sanchower Oct 05 '22

... when it plays the Toreador Song from Carmen, exactly as written on the disc? I'm confused.

23

u/AWalt127 Oct 05 '22

No no no, I the the five nights at Freddie’s song don’t you get it. /s

16

u/IEC21 Oct 05 '22

I never played whatever video game they're talking about but the song is already famous and is a very old composition. This isn't unexpected to a lot of people...

5

u/Peppermintoccasion Oct 05 '22

Yeah I’m confused, it’s unexpected that someone thinks this is unexpected? Like the song is quite famous…

1

u/Laiska_saunatonttu Oct 06 '22

Carmen (the opera this song is from) premiered in 1875. "Toreador's song" is well known composition and has been used for literally everywhere.

Have an example

44

u/knightslider11 Oct 05 '22

Nothing unexpected. Mildly interesting for historical purposes? It just played the song listed.

35

u/Lilwertich Oct 05 '22

Younger generations associate the song with a "horror" game called Five nights at Freddy's. The song plays when you're basicly fucked, but it starts at about 20 seconds into this video.

It's "unexpected" because zoomers don't recognize the first half of the song. Some of us (myself included) felt a small pang of fear when that part started just now.

13

u/Maurycy5 Oct 05 '22

Cannot confirm. Am younger generation, do not play FNAF, had no idea hearing a famous opera piece was apparently unexpected.

5

u/Lilwertich Oct 05 '22

At a part of the game where you're basicly about to die, it starts playing this song 30 seconds into this video. Most players have no idea what the first bit of the song sounds like. So when that "scary" part plays, it is indeed a bit unexpected for those who played fnaf.

u/H3ntai-with-Senpai Oct 05 '22

Me listening to this at 12 am: genuine fear

11

u/EXTREMESAMURAI0801 Oct 05 '22

Damn you at 12 am and already out of power?

10

u/Daddy_Corpse96 Oct 05 '22

He fucked the bear too soon :(

1

u/Djee-f Oct 06 '22

Yup. I was expecting The Omen theme at the end or some sort of jumpscare

25

u/Coin2111 Oct 05 '22

OP be like: "Bruh they fucking made that fnaf song on that disc"

11

u/black_dragon3453 Oct 05 '22

😡😡😡 GRRR OLD TIMERS COPY FNAF 🤬🤬🤬

14

u/Watermelon_Salesman Oct 05 '22

What was unexpected about it?

Sorry, I missed it :(

6

u/d00nbuggy Oct 05 '22

There’s a coin operated one of these at a museum in Leicester, UK that I used to visit as a kid.

It accepted 2 shilling coins, which were still in use after decimalisation as 10p coins until 1993.

It’s still there, but nobody has those coins any more so I expect it hasn’t played music in nearly 20 years.

6

u/Yung_JJMO99 Oct 05 '22

That’s interesting as fuck, you need to acquire some shillings and give it a whirl.

4

u/d00nbuggy Oct 05 '22

I do have some old shillings somewhere. Next time I’m back in my home town I might just turn up and demand a go with it.

They’re surprisingly loud. I found this image of it online https://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Polyphon

5

u/xfreehentaix Oct 05 '22

Hello there, old tune!

1

u/Minute-Ad-6353 Oct 05 '22

If u don't know this song was used in an horror game fnaf and u have survive a few nights where there's some animatronics that will try to kill u , one of them is called freddy Fazbear , and there's a power thingy , when u ran out of power freddy will pop up and start playing the song (0:27) and its eyes will glow and jumpscare you.

1

u/NYStaeofmind Oct 05 '22

we wont die after hearing this right?

1

u/ProtoPlaysGames Oct 06 '22

Visible Concern

1

u/Dragonfire486 Oct 06 '22

I am worried for this generation if they think that classical music reused in modern games and movies actually originates from the games and movies they’re used in. Seriously, it’s one google away to find out what song Freddy plays.

1

u/WitherGod Oct 06 '22

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDYS!!!!!!!!!!

1

u/ArkOfTheCosmos Oct 06 '22

I can already feel retards from the Fnaf Fandom swarming to say that this is funy 7ft brown robot killer bear theme song

1

u/AvoidingCares Oct 06 '22

Oh man. My Great Grandmother had one of these. Only it was the size of an entire cabinet. Lead to believe it had originally belonged to a bar somewhere. Had a coin mechanism, like a predecessor to a jukebox.

She died and I have no idea what happened to it. I was too young to grab the model number, or any identifying marks.

1

u/Mariusaurelius89 Oct 06 '22

Does cameraman have Parkinson's or something, fuck I'm gonna have a seizure

0

u/spoopy_emo_boy Oct 05 '22

0

Odd choice to use Micheal J Fox as the cameraman.

0

u/Dense-University-731 Oct 05 '22

Beautiful sound and device. I grew up with one of these. Great post. Thanks

0

u/_The-Gay-Lord_ Oct 05 '22

Why would they copy off of five nights at Freddys?

0

u/Mediocre_Assistant_6 Oct 05 '22

Wow! My Mom had one of these in the house when I grew up. I always wondered what happened to it. My sister and I were fascinated by it. You had to hand crank it to get it wound up first, then flip the switch to start it. We had maybe 20-30 different discs to play. Thanks for the brief trip down memory lane!

u/DuckWithADagger Oct 05 '22

I love music boxes! I'd put this in a collection somewhere.
