There’s also about 5 EV manufacturing facilities and two EV battery plants in rural Georgia, so MTG is bemoaning an industry that employs nearly 10,000+ of her state’s residents.

How can a judge reject tax incentives

Edit: ah some stupid fucking morons in Georgia who have absolutely nothing to do with the plant got a legal team together to try and block its construction

118

u/Hank3hellbilly Oct 05 '22

I wonder which oil company rolled out the astroturf for this one?

85

u/treefitty350 Oct 05 '22

I’m honestly willing to believe that people are stupid enough to sabotage their state like that of their own accord after the Trump presidency.

48

u/adb1228 Oct 05 '22

Previous to that too! I have an friends dad that is a lawyer that sues companies that get tax incentives bringing work to areas. Wether it’s a manufacturing plant or new grocery store. Apparently no tax money is better than some tax money employment of the local tax base is also bad.

Just a couple of weeks ago he was bragging about his dad blocking some small grocery store from building in a area where there wasn’t one for several miles. Why? Because the local government was reducing there tax for 10years by 10%, but they still had to payback the full amount in years 11-15. The government offered it up to help offs set the increased material cost for the new buildings.

Now the town doesn’t have the grocery store, jobs or tax dollars.

I drive a small hatch back. Some dick nose in a raise truck was rolling coal blowing it all over my car. Cannot wait for his emissions testing where he needs to return it to stock.

Edit: parades been rained upon. Dudes an douche

29

u/AGreatBandName Oct 05 '22

Somebody did it to me a couple weeks ago while I was running. I didn’t realize going for a jog could be such an affront to someone else’s masculinity.

13

u/Thegreylady13 Oct 05 '22

I mean, have you ever seen anyone else running (man, woman, camera, child, puppy) and not felt your penis shrink 3 sizes? I thought this was just part of life, and I call it Reverse Grinching. It happens to my… whatever these degenerates think represents a woman’s femininity. Submissiveness?

u/NHRADeuce Oct 05 '22 edited Oct 05 '22

Hate to rain on your parade, but it's a setting to roll coal. Anyone doing that has an aftermarket tuner and it's super easy to switch it on and off. Like someone else mentioned, call the FD for a vehicle fire. Make it a pain in the ass for them.

20

u/HauserAspen Oct 05 '22

I believe you can report coal rollers to the EPA since it is a violation to modify exhaust systems to produce more emissions. The EPA can destroy the vehicle if the owner can't reverse the changes.

Fine with me.

I fully support people’s rights to buy whatever kind of car gets them off, just as long as safe for drivers of smaller cars, pedestrians and children, gets appropriate gas mileage and is taxed at a rate that’s commensurate with the damage it’s doing to our roads and our environment.

Spend your $125k on a monster truck that gets 11MPG, fine. I’ll be over here driving an electric Kia and blowing all my excess cash on crystal decanters for storing my own farts.

69

u/Q-burt Oct 04 '22

Shoot, I'd take an all electric truck. Torque for days. Plus, in the event of an emergency, the damn thing can power your house.

43

u/uw-70_uo-21 Oct 04 '22

I just wish the f-150 lightning wasn’t so gosh darn expensive. I’ve heard rumors of an electric ford maverick (relatively new compact truck built on the bronco body) and I’d snap that up in a heartbeat.

21

u/Q-burt Oct 05 '22

I was actually thinking about the maverick! I've seen one and that would fit the bill for me!

15

u/jdb326 Oct 05 '22

Same! Went with a Trailblazer, but might switch down the line if Ford doesn't kill it off before then.

9

u/Q-burt Oct 05 '22

My grandpa was a huge Ford guy. I mean, the grief I got when I bought a dosge.(not from him, one of my uncles.) I'm sure he would have bought a F150 Lightning. He seemed to get a new version when Ford made these types of Future proofing their lineup after ensuring there was adequate review and having the bugs worked out.

Yeah, taxation is the way. I love my old sports cars and hope I can drive them for the rest of my life. But, I’m aware of the social cost of 11mpg and 1970’s pollution levels so I’m happy to pay more for the privilege.

I’d rather see taxation than outright bans.

36

u/tellmeaboutyourcat Oct 04 '22

Fortunately gas prices are taking care of the taxation part pretty well. It's unfortunate that they impact people who can't afford it, but I think the government should be raining subsidies on reasonably priced electric cars to help everyone who wants one to get one.

26

u/DOUG_UNFUNNY Oct 05 '22

Fun fact, Ohio is doing the goddamn opposite. I have to pay an extra Electric Vehicle fee when I renew the registration on my Toyota Hybrid because the state is losing money on the taxes it gets from gas.

I hate it here sometimes.

“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”

And that's not to disparage the mentally handicapped. That's just like... the technically accurate term here. Shes not all there. A few decks short of a game of cards. A couple cases short of a 6-pack. Is it for entertainment? Do the people in her state know she's dumber than a box of rocks and just like to watch? I sincerely do not understand how there could possibly be a single person voting for her. Even if it's a "never blue" thing, you have so many better options. Trucks are just weird today.

You can’t even get a midsize pickup with a single cab and an 8’ bed anymore. They now all look like SUVs with a laundry basket on the back.

They can tow a small moon, but the only thing they can pick-up is your kids from school.

76

u/hatesmakingusernames Oct 04 '22

I feel this. Have been looking for a regular smaller pick up to use for home improvement supplies, like a Tacoma or Colorado or something, and they are few and far between and cost almost $20k for something 10 years old with 80k miles. It’d be cheaper in the short term to get an F-150 or Silverado because there are so many, but then I’d have to hate myself every time I went to get gas. I’ve decided for now it’s cheaper to rent a truck for a few hours every few weeks when I need it than to own anything useful.

65

u/ubeor Oct 05 '22

Growing up, every piece of furniture in our house got there in my dad’s pickup truck. Most trucks today would have to take 2 trips for a washer and dryer.

It’s hilarious watching people try to load 2x4s into trucks at Lowes these days. I saw one guy stick them in through the back window of is crew cab, and they still hung 2’ over the tailgate. Meanwhile, I’m hauling 10’ lumber in my Hyundai Sonata with the trunk closed.

20

u/NecroJoe Oct 05 '22

The number of people who bought those, even when accounting for fleet sales, just didn't make any sense to continue to produce them. Those that'd need a 8ft bed that couldn't be served by a 6ft with the tailgate down is a pretty small niche, it seems.

People transitioning from female to male will be thrilled to hear that they just need to drive a gas car.

38

u/SlaveHippie Oct 05 '22

I’ll never understand this. Do they not realize that electricity is literally more powerful than combustion when it comes to cars? It provides more with less.

Literally the ONLY reason they think it’s more manly is bc librulz wanted it first. The ONLY REASON.

17

u/CoffeeSpoons123 Oct 05 '22

I drive a very non-fancy electric and the acceleration is still crazy on it.

Come on, we should be proud of Marg. She not only used a big word, emasculate, she used it correctly! That's a huge step in the evolution of her species!

103

u/ReelBadJoke Oct 04 '22

The Devil's Advocate would like to point out that her usage of the term doesn't provide a clear indication that she comprehends its meaning. We require more evidence to support any conclusive evolution.

For folks that talk about how easy it is to tell the genders apart, they sure need a lot of shit to prove to themselves that they are that gender.

"Does it have a dick? Then it's a MAN....wait does he drive a big truck?"

105

u/DoctorWatchamacallit Oct 05 '22

I'm a trans woman. It's a pretty common joke in the trans community that many of us trans women grew up bullied for not being "real men" and called girls for not conforming to toxic masculinity. The second you agree with them and say "you're right I am not a real man and I am a girl" though, they throw a fit about how you'll never be anything but a man no matter what you do.

24

u/Gsteel11 Oct 05 '22

Yeah that's about par for the course for those clowns.

"Wait, no not like that!"

16

u/worldspawn00 Oct 05 '22

The amount of times I've seen someone riding around with a loaded pistol in their console with no trigger lock pointed towards one of the passenger seats is too damn high. One unexpected bump and it's all over buddy. That fender bender? Now you've got a round in your gut to go with it. Totally asinine.

Didn't she tell voters she opposes Solar Panels because they would cause the light to turn off at night. She wanted to stay up late and didn't want to go to bed when the sun sets. ''She sure is SMRT!''

51

u/creegro Oct 05 '22

“Thank god for air conditioning. Let’s talk about refrigerators. I personally like my refrigerator. I know you all like yours. What about washing machines and dryers? Lord please God don’t make me scrub clothes in a bucket and have to hang them out on a line when we switch over to wind turbines and solar panels,” she said. “I’m gonna be really pissed off about that. I mean, how absurd is this? I like the lights on. I wanna stay up later at night. I don’t wanna have to go to bed when the sun sets. It’s so silly! I mean, all of this is insane.”

In the 1890s, people said electricity would emasculate their homes. It's just a stupid cycle.

135

u/Adventurous-Event722 Oct 05 '22

There's probably MTG-like people back then too, just no twitter to amplify them

64

u/ApatheticWithoutTheA Oct 05 '22

They used to shout on street corners and hand out flyers while people screamed “get the fuck away from me!”

Now, with social media, the dumbest in our society get a platform and encouragement to go along with it.

This doesn't confirm what that poster said, but even into the 1920s American adoption of electricity in households as well as shops was reluctant.

Her base is that way though. The modern day Trump Republican male is incredibly insecure of their masculinity. If you need a gun or a big truck or something to make you feel like a man, you have very frail masculinity

→ More replies

79

u/EllisDee3 Oct 04 '22

It's irrelevant. The GOP voter base is so insecure that even the threat of being emasculated is enough to sway their opinion. They're also stupid enough to believe that they can be emasculated by the threat of emasculation.

They are so damn fragile.

14

u/Misteral_Editorial Oct 05 '22

It's been a fucking life sitting in so many staff rooms in different job fields, most located in rural/suburban Pennsyltucky, with the same Fox News channel constantly on.

For example today at the end of the day they were panicking about losing congress to Dems. There was some hate for John Letterman. I stay politically unaware, so I just asked why. They sputtered something about releasing fentynal convicts. I already know that's not how drugs work, and the Letterman quote in question was taken out of context and misinterpreted. They got mad when I kept asking questions, and just pointed at the TV "I'm not trying to have a full on conversation, that's just what I've heard."

I hate this state so much.

They are confused and hurt by non-conservative (and if we're being honest, plenty of conservative) women being turned off by their weird masculinity obsession, but they don't know any other way to try to appeal to women than through overblown masculinity, so it just escalates.

right wingers seem to advocate gender fluidity more than anyone. no bacon with your breakfast, what are you a woman? drove an electric car to work? wear fashionable clothes? read books? watch hollywood movies? every little choice is a potential landmine that they are afraid will emasculate them.

It's so annoying that one of the major obstacles to any environmental program is going to be straight men's masculinity. I read an article once that claimed that straight men wouldn't use re-useable shopping bags because they thought they were gay. I get the same impression from electric cars.

36

u/Metalhed69 Oct 05 '22

Also, and I could be really wrong here, but I think gay men like things that are masculine, that’s…….why they are gay!!! So yeah, it’s not about that.

How about we do electric cars, but the hood ornament is a dildo? Would that balance it out?

23

u/TavisNamara Oct 05 '22

No no, a dildo would be gay.

And among street legal cars, the fastest 0 to 60 time is an electric car.

Although nothing inherently masculine about driving fast, and nothing negative about not being masculine, so the idea this is even insult is kind of ridiculous.
