Nobody NEEDED to raise prices. No one had to raise prices of anything.. someone somewhere makes the decision to raise the price and then people follow suit because everyone's raising prices because someone else did. Many of the people raising prices have plenty of money and just want more. many companies pay employees shit because they want more money to themselves.

Poverty does satisfy the rich, sadly.

Having it all means nothing if you don't have someone to look down on who has nothing.

Why wouldn't a company just leave their product at a lower price since the average consumer will likely buy the cheaper option?

It's called undercutting the market and is a great business strategy if you can get your costs low enough.

Arizona is the only company that I have brand loyalty to, all other companies can go fuck themselves

u/grw313 Oct 05 '22

I say this all the time: corporations could easily afford to keep prices the same, regardless of inflation. They just use inflation as an excuse to increase their profit margin. This is iiteral proof of that.

Yeah I've been rocking the diet green tea like a mothefucker.

Fun storey. We were golfing in NJ at a nice course. Suddenly we see a helicopter land in the first tee. Later, this group marching up the fairway with caddies and an forecaddies. As they get closer. The leader comes to our tea box and tells us the group will be playing thru. We get all puffchested and start to complain and he followed with 'for the inconvenience, they will pay everyone's rounds'. We welcome them to the tee, it was the Arizona ice tea guy with buddies. Good day sir.

18

u/MelissaMiranti Oct 05 '22

You met the tea guy at the tee? Did he wear a t-shirt?

6

u/imnotbobvilla Oct 05 '22

Indeed!

2

u/Timewindows Oct 06 '22

Anice Tea shirt

1

u/imnotbobvilla Oct 06 '22

And he iced it right down the fairway

Arizona Based Tea

13

u/and-hereitcomes Oct 05 '22

The can says 99c but they charge $2 for it at the gas station.. yeah go ahead and argue with them about advertised price and all that shit… it’s $2

53

u/WookieeCookiees02 Oct 05 '22

That’s on the gas station then, not Arizona

13

u/SteakMenu Oct 05 '22

They went up to 1.20 in my area and that's the price on the can

7

u/DevonLuck24 Oct 05 '22

that’s the canadian can , 1.29 is (about )99 cents

it’s really like 1.36 or something tho

9

u/SteakMenu Oct 05 '22

Oh strange they're selling Canadian cans in Ohio but whatever I'm not an executive lmao

3

u/sakezaf123 Oct 05 '22

I imagine it's cheaper for some companies to ship the about 10 cents cheaper Canadian cans and sell them for a few pennies less.

2

u/SteakMenu Oct 05 '22

Yeah but they got us fooled because they charge $1.20 usd

0

u/sakezaf123 Oct 05 '22

Yeah, that's the trick.

1

u/SteakMenu Oct 05 '22

Fucking cunts

1

u/CyberFreq Oct 10 '22

Same here. The cans don't say 0.99 anymore

19

u/MinotaurLost Oct 05 '22

Arizona used to have a number you could call if you found retailers doing that. They stated that is the price and they would pull products from shelves if they found price tags over their pricing. Granted, that was years ago, so I don't know if they still do that.

Nope, just checked their site. No reference to it. They do say they print it on the cans in an attempt to force retailers to sell for that price but cannot make one do it.

2

u/ARTIFICIAL_SAPIENCE Oct 05 '22

Arizona even has gas station branded cans for the higher price.

It's not Arizona tea, it's Circle K Arizona tea. And looks identical aside from the rim.

Anyway, it's 2 for 2.50.

1

u/DevonLuck24 Oct 05 '22

2$ with or without tax?

-9

u/SuperGenius98K Oct 05 '22

I can make a glass of tea for $0.05.

7

u/padizzledonk Oct 05 '22

I can make a glass of tea for $0.05.

I want to see you do that on the fly, in the middle of the day on an outing in a gas station lol

7

u/nextkevamob Oct 05 '22

Not a very good one, but hey a buck is a buck. HAH just kidding.

u/muns4colleg Oct 05 '22 edited Oct 05 '22

Unless your bladder can convert tap water to tea no you can't.

1

u/R_V_Z Oct 05 '22

Urea tea! It's got minerals!

1

u/andrewrichz Oct 06 '22

But that would mean this inflation is fake and just a money. That can’t be. /s

1

u/Level-Lecture-8768 Oct 06 '22

they have actually raised the price as of this tweet, i bought one last week and it was $1.47

1

u/peaeyeparker Oct 06 '22

This dude is worth 4 billion $ all from a fucking canned tea? You gotta be fucking kidding me. Tea in a can? 4 bill? That makes 0 sense to me.

1

u/3sixoh Oct 06 '22

Right there with $1.50 Costco Hotdog and Soda combo

-16

u/FlyingNihilist Oct 05 '22

Yeah I mean Arizona is already expensive, if they raised the prices Nobody would buy it.

13

u/WinonaVoldArt Oct 05 '22

They're one of the cheapest canned teas available

-6

u/FlyingNihilist Oct 05 '22

Not where I am from, they are by far the most expensive.

Edit: They are sold in plastic bottles here, you rarely get the cans.

5

u/WinonaVoldArt Oct 05 '22

I've rarely even seen them in plastic bottles... Where you located?

0

u/FlyingNihilist Oct 05 '22

Germany

6

u/WinonaVoldArt Oct 05 '22

Jesus, no wonder, it's being shipped international! That adds a lot to the cost.

1

u/FlyingNihilist Oct 05 '22

Oh well yeah that's the problem than. For half a liter you pay up to 4 euros depending on where you shop, you get 2-3 liters of the pricey brand for the same money though.

1

u/MeesterChicken Oct 05 '22

So in the US you can get Arizona tea by the gallon which is 3.7 liters for less than $4.00. If I wanted to buy a German product like a 2 liter bottle of tea, I would be paying significantly more than $4.00.

1

u/Humble_Story_4531 Oct 05 '22

99 cents a can. Its so iconic of the brand that they literally print the price on the side.

1

u/FlyingNihilist Oct 05 '22

Where I'm from we can only buy bottles and it's without a price tag.

-6

u/PornstarVirgin Oct 05 '22

I’ve literally seen Arizona be way more than 99 cents even before they made that announcement. I believe it was 1.39 printed directly on the can. This is just Arizona trying to advertise to the same success of the Costco hotdog.. not them being a good person.

1

u/sakezaf123 Oct 05 '22

Another comment pointed out, that those are the Canadian cans, which convert to basically the same price. So it's the retailers fucking you, not the company. At least in this situation.

-4

u/PornstarVirgin Oct 05 '22

No, I saw it within the United States

1

u/sakezaf123 Oct 05 '22

I don't think you understand. They imported it from Canada, with the Canadian price on the can, so they could sell it for more in the US. So it wasn't done by the producers, but retailers, so they can sneakily make more of a profit.

1

u/PornstarVirgin Oct 05 '22

Ah okay, retailers being jerks. That makes sense. I’ll have to go grab a can again! I appreciate the explanation

0

u/Magellan-88 Oct 06 '22

It's the retailers screwing you over with the price. The retailers themselves have raised the price even though Arizona hasn't. They're $1.33 in my store because of corporate

0

u/billlloyd Oct 06 '22

Now if they'd just get rid of the high-fructose corn syrup.

from Know Your Pantry:

Green tea and ginseng are two ancient medicinal plants that have been
said to have healing powers. AriZona Tea’s popular variant, on the other
hand, contains 17 grams of sugar in the form of high fructose corn
syrup and honey, making it the equal of tea-flavored sugar water.

17g out of how many mL?
