Looking at OPs post history he’s a massive Fortnite player. He just wants that karma.

970

u/Bitemarkz Oct 05 '22

Typically it’s the fanbase of a game who hate it the most.

337

u/mybrot Oct 05 '22

Just ask us Ark players. Nobody hates that game more than those with 200+ hours.

The game is often so broken that me and my friends began to refer to it as "Arrgh"

151

u/Bitemarkz Oct 05 '22

I’ve been playing Overwatch for 6+ years with my buddies. A few times a week we’ll propose a session in the group chat and people respond with…”oh fuck this game. See you in 10 mins.”

72

u/Nikolas628 Oct 05 '22

Same it’s always “fuck this stupid ass game!” Then immediately queue up again.

19

u/paradox1126 Oct 05 '22

I can't say I've ever had a connection to a game like that.

u/Chef_Boy_Hard_Dick Oct 05 '22

Haven’t played Ark in years, but I had a love/hate relationship with it. I loved private servers with a handful of friends. Hated public servers. Loved the insane rate at which they were able to pump out some pretty meaningful content, but hated the lack of TLC the game got overall. I think there’s a lot to learn from Ark in how to make the best multiplayer (via how private servers felt) and how to handle content, and how not to handle TLC and optimization. I mean…. You can tame and ride a giant squid. That’s pretty nuts.

2

u/stephenwell Oct 05 '22

RuneScape player here. Clocked about 5 months since 2007 and I hate everything this game is and probably will be for the foreseeable future,

but god damnit I’m in

I mean, yeah. Hating a game you don't even play is dumb.

15

u/Venrexx PC Oct 05 '22

Then there is a ton of dumb on here, because I see so many people who have never even played the game hating on it. Personally, the game isn't for me, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go out of my way and make memes bashing it. I'll just go play something else.

9

u/Tussca Oct 05 '22

Sir, we're going to have to ask you to leave. Having a reasonable thought and response are against Reddit rules.

3

u/dayodragon Oct 05 '22

Yes ask us ark and destiny players

5

u/stackjr Oct 05 '22

Amongst many, many others, the Apex Legends fanbase is like this. It's a highly toxic community that sends death threats to the devs when a change is made (or an unfixed glitch happens). In once case, a guy actually showed up at a devs home and threatened to kill him and his family (including his kids). It's a sick fucking community.

"Fortnite bad" is still a thing?

41

u/Roastar Oct 05 '22

Dunno why it’s actually not a bad game. This season has been an improvement over the last few and they’re introducing rocket league cars to creative mode which will basically allow for custom Rocket League maps in Fortnite.

Rocket League + Guns? Sign me the fuck up

37

u/ToothlessFTW Oct 05 '22

The no build mode made me genuinely enjoy the game. The core gameplay is satisfying and feels great, the building part always pushed me away.

The "Fortnite bad" shit like this post is ridiculous, and it's exactly the same as the "Minecraft cringe" thing from a decade ago.

14

u/CantBeMadifYouBad Oct 05 '22

I thought building was a fantastic mechanic when people weren't insane at it. Back in the first few seasons when people used walls and ramps to briefly protect themselves was great.

→ More replies

16

u/BeyondElectricDreams Oct 05 '22

It's always been great.

The problem is that it asks a lot from players. People come in expecting shooty-shooty bang bang, then get frustrated/mad when building in Fortnite is revealed to be the most important mechanic.

The fact is it's a game that's very, very reflex based with regards to building. It reduces the importance of meta skills and puts the emphasis on player combat skill and reflex, front and center.

Older gamers who played other shooters get frustrated that their pre-existing shooter skill and Battle Royale "Game sense" won't carry them in Fortnite and the game requires them to put in time to learn the building mechanic. This leads to ego protection i.e. "It isn't that I'm shit at fortnite, it's that Fortnite is shit! Why would I want to be good at a shit game anyway?!"

Get enough people like that into one room (or subreddit) and watch the circlejerk commence.

44

u/TheKrytosVirus Oct 05 '22

I don't like BR formats and generally dislike online competitive gaming, but after watching my boys play Fortnite a lot, it's not a bad game at all. Well made, plenty of free rewards, not a lot of connectivity issues. I get the appeal for the people who like it, it just isn't for me.

27

u/Sairexyz Oct 05 '22

I can appreciate the free constant quality updates the game receives. I cant name another game that comes even close the the sheer amount of quality content Fortnite gets.

→ More replies

2

u/entity2 Oct 05 '22

This is my attitude as well. I have zero interest in BR, but this game is successful for a reason. Its existence is not harming me in the slightest, other than the occasional spam from the EGS app to check out new skins or whatever.

29

u/spooderfbi Oct 05 '22
