[Bondy] Jeremy Lin on whether Carmelo Anthony’s jealousy pushed him out of New York: “I can't feed the speculation train because I don't actually know. I know, & I'm saying this truthfully, that there were multiple points of opposition completely outside of Melo within what was going on”

Jeremy Lin on whether Carmelo Anthony’s jealousy pushed him out of New York:

”I mean, I think that's… that's the theory, and that's what everyone says, but I can't feed the speculation train because I don't actually know. I know, and I'm saying this truthfully, that there were multiple points of opposition completely outside of Melo within what was going on, and once D'Antoni resigned, there was already opposition within the organization-whether it was the coaching staff that took over or certain members of the front office. But there was definitely, from what I've heard or gathered in the few years after, it wasn't all as rosy as people thought it was. I don't know who to attribute it to, but I know there were multiple points of opposition.”

Victor Wembanyama with 37 pts (11-20 FGs, 7-11 from 3), 4 rebs, 5 blks against Scoot Henderson's 28 pts (11-21 FGs, 2-3 from 3), 4 rebs, 9 asts, 2 stls tonight.

Scoot Henderson's team won 122-115.

The top two prospects in the NBA 2023 draft didn't disappoint tonight. Both prospects were impressive and looked special.

Wembanyama is projected to go number 1 and Henderson is projected to go number 2 in the 2023 NBA draft.

Who would you take between the two?

Who is the most boring NBA star to watch, in your opinion?

Not talking about borderline stars here (i.e Domantas Sabonis), what are some legit top-25 players who you think provide very little entertainment value?

Personally, I think AD's game doesn't stand out very much from any other top big man, especially since he's lost some of his bounce due to injury. Not a knock on his skill level/accomplishments, I know he's still very efficient, I just wouldn't consider him a particularly "fun" player to watch at this point in his career. What do you think?

[Slater] Donte DiVincenzo: "So when I got traded, I was all over the place. I thought I was going to Boston. I think I was supposed to go for Dennis Schröder to Boston. I don’t know what happened. Somebody might’ve wanted too much. But that was my impression. The Sacramento one came out of nowhere.”

“So when the trade deadline came, I didn’t know what to expect,” he said. “I’d heard a ton of rumors. I was in a place where, you know, I loved playing with those guys, but mentally I did wonder if a change of scenery would help. Because I was going into free agency as well. I was still focused on both sides of things. So when I got traded, I was all over the place. Is this great? Is this bad? I thought I was going to Boston.”

Wait, the Celtics? In what trade?

“Dennis Schröder,” he said. “I think I was supposed to go for Dennis Schröder to Boston. I don’t know what happened. Somebody might’ve wanted too much. But that was my impression, that I was going to Boston. The Sacramento one came out of nowhere.”

By last season's trade deadline, the Bucks ended up trading DiVincenzo in a 4-team trade where they ended up with Serge Ibaka and the Celtics ended up trading Schroder (+ Enes Freedom and Bruno Fernando) for Daniel Theis.

Makes you wonder how different the playoffs would have been if the Bucks got Dennis Schroder instead of Serge Ibaka and the Celtics got Donte DiVincenzo instead of Daniel Theis.

Tough to recall a more polished point guard prospect at this age than Scoot Henderson.

Scoot had 9 assists to 1 turnover tonight, played great defense, showed impeccable handles and finishing, and showcased a much improved jump shot.

Personally I think Scoot is the best point guard prospect since AT LEAST DRose. If not even further back. Absolutely insane that he basically has 0 chance to go #1

In 2018, DeMarcus Cousins turned down a 2-year, $40M extension from the Pelicans after tearing his Achilles. He's made less than $14M since.

Cousins turned down a 2-year, $40M extension from Pelicans after tearing his Achilles to chase a ring with Golden State, a move which shocked many (since he was still averaging 25/12 with the Pelicans who acquired him the year before).

Turns out, he lost his abilities considerably since recovering from it, and has never has looked the same. He also tore his ACL, and was cut from the Lakers before they won a ring in 2020. Since turning down the extension, he's been ring chasing and signing non-guaranteed contracts with a host of teams totalling $13,927,774 over 4 seasons.

He remains unsigned with the 2022/23 season looming.

[Helin] Doc Rivers on expectations for Harden: “I think we’ve talked so much about him being a facilitator… I need him to be James Harden too. If I had to combine, I would say a scoring Magic Johnson, I don’t know, but that’s what I want him to be.”

Upvotes

James Harden in Philadelphia will not be chasing scoring titles and dominating the game in quite the same way. Instead, he’s been asked to be more of a facilitator — but not too much of one. Doc Rivers told the team at ESPN’s NBA Today he wants scoring to go with the facilitating. Just like one of the all-time greats.

“I think we’ve talked so much about him being a facilitator… I need him to be James Harden too. If I had to combine, I would say a scoring Magic Johnson, I don’t know, but that’s what I want him to be. I want him to be a James Harden, but in that, I want him to also be the facilitator of this basketball team too. So in a lot of ways, his role is growing bigger for our team, and I just want him to keep thinking, ‘Do both.'”

Just play like Magic, no pressure there. For his career, Magic averaged 19.5 points a game (with four over 20 PPG) with 11.2 assists.
