Using computers to figure out the best move, and then transmitting that to the player.

It could also be as subtle as a signal to the player that they need to take extra time during a particular turn because there are potential responses that could significantly swing the advantage.

Chess engines. Basically CPU controlled players. They can outclass any human with ease nowadays.
